Pre-MOT check in Westhampton
We do not test MOTs — which is exactly why this check is worth having.
Around three in ten cars fail their first MOT attempt. The biggest causes are lighting and electrics, then suspension, then brakes, then tyres. Brakes and tyres together account for roughly 29% of all failures, and with suspension it is close to half.
Those are the things we work on every day. We do not carry out MOT tests, so we have nothing to gain from finding faults — and everything to gain from your car passing first time and you coming back to us next year.
How you know you need it
- Your MOT is due in the next few weeks
- Last year you were given advisories you have not acted on
- You have a warning light on and do not know whether it matters for the test
- The car has been sitting unused for months
What we actually do
- 1 Tread depth measured on all four tyres, plus condition and age
- 2 Pads and discs measured, fluid tested
- 3 Every bulb checked, including number plate and brake lights
- 4 Wipers, washers and horn
- 5 A clear written list: what would fail, what would be an advisory, what is fine
Questions about this job
Why not just book the MOT and see?
A fail is recorded against the vehicle and shows on its history for anyone who looks it up later. Finding the problem beforehand avoids that.
Can you do the repairs?
Tyres, brakes, bulbs, wipers and alignment, yes — the common failures. Anything outside that we will say so honestly.
Can you book the MOT for me?
We do not test here. Put your registration into our tyre search and we will show you when yours runs out and what was flagged last time.
