New tyres in Westhampton, fitted while you wait

A full set in about forty-five minutes, at a price with nothing added at the counter.

About 45 minutes in the workshop Open seven days, Sunday included

Tyres are the only part of your car that touches the road. Four patches of rubber, each about the size of your hand, doing all the steering, all the braking and all the grip. When they are worn, everything else on the car is working against physics.

We fit every size from budget to premium, and the price we quote is the price you pay — fitting, balancing, a new valve, disposal of the old tyre and VAT are all in it. Most common sizes are on our shelf, so you can usually have it done the same day.

How you know you need it

  • The tread is near 3mm — the legal minimum is 1.6mm, but grip in the wet falls off sharply below 3mm
  • Cracking or crazing in the sidewall, which means the rubber has aged regardless of tread
  • A bulge or egg shape in the sidewall — that is structural damage and the tyre must come off
  • The tyres are over five years old, whatever the tread looks like
  • Uneven wear across the tread, which usually means the alignment needs doing too

What we actually do

  1. 1 We check the size against your registration, so there is no guessing
  2. 2 The old tyre comes off, the rim is cleaned and inspected for damage
  3. 3 A new valve goes in — an old valve on a new tyre is a slow puncture waiting to happen
  4. 4 The wheel is balanced on the machine, not by eye
  5. 5 Everything is torqued to the manufacturer figure, and we tell you the pressures

Questions about this job

How long does a full set take?

About forty-five minutes. Most people wait. Two tyres is around half an hour.

Do I have to change all four?

Not always. But tyres should be replaced in pairs across an axle, and on a four-wheel-drive car usually all four. We will tell you honestly what yours needs.

Is a premium tyre worth the extra?

Often, yes — but not for the reason people think. A premium tyre lasts roughly twice the miles of a budget one, so it frequently works out cheaper per mile. Our tyre search shows that figure for every tyre.
